The
Donnellys
One
of Canada's most famous families lived on a picturesque country road called
the Roman Line, northeast of Lucan, Ontario. Known as the Black Donnellys,
the family is most famous for the times they lived in, and the resulting
massacre that took place February 4th, 1880.
There
have been many books written about the notorious family, some of which
are for sale at the Lucan Area Heritage Museum. There also tours
available at the Donnelly Homestead, (7km north of St. Patrick's Roman
Catholic Church -- Roman Line), and visitors can view the Donnelly gravesite
that is situated at the back of St. Patrick's Cemetery.
For
information about the Donnellys, please visit the Lucan Area Heritage Museum
in Lucan.
